“great writers are indecent people
they live unfairly
saving the best part for paper.

good human beings save the world
so that bastards like me can keep creating art,
become immortal.
if you read this after I am dead
it means I made it.”

― Charles Bukowski, The People Look Like Flowers at Last

Everybody wants to be on the mountaintop, but if you’ll remember, mountaintops are rocky and cold. There is no growth on the top of a mountain. Sure, the view is great, but what’s a view for? A view just gives us a glimpse of our next destination, our next target. But to hit that target, we must come off the mountain, go through the valley, and begin to climb the next slope. It is in the valley that we slog through the lush grass and rich soil, learning and becoming what enables us to summit life’s next peak.

I love this rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by The Ten Tenors.  In fact, I’ve loved it for nearly 5 years now; to put that into perspective, that’s longer than I’ve loved the Whiskey Smash at Eastern Standard (4 years).

I couldn’t agree with this quote more by Walsch (who heretodate, I have never heard of but I’m intrigued to check out some of his books after doing a little digging around about him).  For some reason (call me crazy), reading this statement also immediately makes me think of this.  And to me at least, both are impactful and inspiring!

Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.
